We responsibly sourced these pure pink salt chunks from near our organic farm in Uttarakhand.  The rosy pink hue comes from trace minerals in the salt, like magnesium, potassium and calcium.
You can further grind or powder these pink salt chunks for salting, curing of meats, pickling and preservation of food
Other uses: mix with sugar and oil to make gentle scrubs, add to hot bath, create flavoured salts
Do you know where Pink salt comes from?
The salt is mined from rolling red-brick hills that rise from Pakistan marshes in Khewra, about two hours from the capital, Islamabad. They are hundreds of miles from the iconic snowy peaks of the Himalayas, and the area shimmers with heat. The hills — known as the salt range — are distant tendrils of the Himalayas and are a remnant of a lagoon that existed some 600 million years ago, said Shahid Iqbal, a lecturer in the department of earth sciences at Quaid-i-Azam University.
In Pakistan, Himalayan pink salt has been the subject of parliamentary debates
Pakistan has decided to register Himalayan pink salt as Geographical Indications (GI) to prevent its unauthorised use by other countries.
